New RILC Short Course in Immigration Law

RILC regularly offers a short course in Australian Immigration Law specifically designed for lawyers wishing to expand their area of practice or as a refresher course for lawyer migration agents. The course covers a number of key areas and issues likely to be encountered in migration law practice.

A number of units in the course have been allocated CPD points under the MARA scheme so Registered Migration Agents who undertake this course as a refresher may claim points. Legal practitioners may also claim CPD points for attendance.

Legal Practitioners holding current practising certificates may register as migration agents without having to complete the Graduate Certificate in Immigration Law which is the MARA prescribed course for all applicants who do not hold practising certificates.

The next RILC CPD series of 12 seminars starts Wednesday 25 June, 2008.  Download information and application form by clicking here...

Major change to registration requirements to commence in 2006.

The Migration Agents Registration Authority has announced that in the future people intending to register as Migration Agents will  be required to successfully complete a Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law (the Prescribed Course) and pass a prescribed examination. The Graduate Certificate will be the equivalent of a six month full time course of study. The first intake for the Graduate Certificate will commence in July 2006.  At this stage it is not known which Universities will offer the Graduate Certificate.

Only persons holding a current legal practising certificate will be exempt from these requirements.

RILC is no longer running Migration Agent Accreditation courses; however, our extensive CPD program is still running.

RILC is a provider of education and training in all aspects of Australia’s refugee and immigration program for Migration Agents, community groups and students. More information…
