Advice and Casework Services

Overview of Services

RILC conducts a substantial legal advice and casework service for asylum seekers, refugees and disadvantaged migrants in the community and in immigration detention. Each year, we assist over 3,000 people. RILC specialises in legal advice and representation in relation to refugee and general immigration matters through the following services:

  • Telephone Advice Line
  • Evening Advice Service
  • Day time casework
  • Offshore Refugee ‘Family Reunion’ Clinics
  • Outreach projects

RILC’s legal advice and casework services are free.

How to get advice

To obtain advice you must first call the Telephone Advice Line service.

Telephone advice is available by calling (03) 9413 0100 during session times and asking for the duty solicitor. 

The session times are weekly on:

Wednesdays: 10am – 4pm 
Fridays: 2pm – 4pm
